July 1, 2012 Weekly Weather and Mineral Guess

July 1, 2012

www.bluffparkbackporch.com

Greetings from the Bluff Park Back Porch:

Last week 0.00 inches of rain fell on BP2.

HEAT TIPS: We will be close to dangerous territory in the heat department over the next ten days. Some things to remember: wear loose fitting, light colored clothing. Drink plenty of non-alcoholic, non-caffeinated drinks. Take a break from time to time if working or playing. Spend as much time as possible in air conditioning. Fans help a lot if there isn’t any AC. Check on elderly family, neighbors and friends. Remember pets. They suffer in the heat too. Keep their water supplies full and give them a break too.

Alabama’s all time record high is 112 degrees, recorded September 5, 1925 in Centreville. We are very confident that record is safe.

Here is a look at record highs for Birmingham in coming days….

FRIDAY: 106 (1931)
SATURDAY 104 (1931)
SUNDAY 103 (1954)
MONDAY 101 (1954)

The rain deficit for the year is up to 5.80″.

Birmingham’s longest streak of consecutive 100 degree days is 10… that happened during the hot August of 2007… from August 7-16 of that year. There is a good chance this streak of triple digit days will reach 6.

New record high for the Bluff Park Back Porch at 103.5 for Saturday, June 30, 2012.

There will be no elemental/mineral guess this week.  Since it is Fourth of July Week, I thought that I would be patriotic and show the colors:  RED – White – Blue Minerals.  Your pick of pics this week.
