September 23, 2012 Weekly Weather and Mineral Guess

September 23, 2012

Greetings from the Bluff Park Back Porch:

Last week 0.00 inches of rain fell on BP2.

It has been beautiful weather for the last week.  Fall officially arrived Saturday Morning.  We are forecast to have another clear week.  The low tonight is forecast to be 48 while the high on Monday is forecast to be 77.  I may have to drag out the ol’ kerosene heater for the Bluff Park Back Porch?

Elemental Mineral Guest:

Our elemental guess this week has an atomic number of 17.  It is a halogen.

–    The Greek Name translates to pale green.
–    It is a strong oxidizing agent.
–    It is nearly fatal when breathed in its gaseous form, but we eat a compound of it every day.
–    it is used in making plastics, solvents for dry cleaning and metal degreasing, textiles, agrochemicals and pharmaceuticals, insecticides, dyestuffs, household cleaning products, etc.

What is it?  C _ _ _ _ _ _ _.
